Duke Nukem 3D Items and Inventory

All items and inventory are in both registered and shareware versions of Duke Nukem 3D.

Health Items

To get a health item, just walk over it.

Small Medikit

This is the wimpy Medikit, which gives you 10 health. Remember, when you would be getting more health from a Medikit than you

need, you waste some health. For example, let's say you have 95 health, and you get a Medikit. The Medikit can only heal you to 100 health. You end up
wasting half the Medikit.

Large Medikit

These baby's give you 30 whole health. Remember, it you have 90 health and if you get a large Medikit, you're wasting 20 health!

Atomic Health

These give you a whole 50 health! And as a bonus, you can get to 200 health with them. Also they have a nice sound when you get

them.

Armor

When you get armor, it can really help conserve health. But still, it does wear down. When you see some lying aroung that was

already there, it gives you 100 armor, not going above 100. When you get some from a Pig Cop or other enemy, you get 25-75 armor
not going about 100. Someday I will perform a test to see exactly how much armor really helps.

Inventory Items

To use you inventory, either press the item's letter, or use the braket [ ] keys (under the hyphen and equal/plus sign) to select an item, and press enter to use it.

Portable Medkit

The key you use this is the 'M' key. It gives you health up to 100 so when you use it, it takes how much health you are below 100 from

itself, and brings your health to 100. Remember, if you have time, look around a little for Medikits before using this.

Jetpack

Use the 'J' key to use. This is a nice little item. It lets you sore up to high hard-to-get-to places, or can be used to break a deadly fall.

Speaking of deadly falls, don't be high above the ground when it runs out.

Night Vision Goggles

Use the 'N' key to use. This aren't really a whole lot of use. Use them in dark tunnels, and added to the fact that you can see better,

your enemies glow a ugly yellow.

Steroids

Press 'R' to use. This performance booster pumps up Duke's andrenaline glands, making him move a little faster, and enables him to

deliver stronger harder kicks. These pills go fast, though. Plus they're like Pringles Chips: once you start taking them you cant stop
(until you run out).

Protective Boots

Once you put them on, they automaticly protect you from toxic waste and lava. You just get them, and they'll switch on and off

automaticly. All you have to worry about is how much wear it's taken.

Scuba Gear

Like the boots, this is automatic. Unlike a couple other items, this is actually very usful. Although you can hold your breath underwater

a long time, scuba gear is very helpful. If you don't have scuba gear and you run out of air, you start losing health very rapidly.

HoloDuke
Press 'H' to use. It took the labs 8 years to perfect (which they didn't really), but these are kinda coolish. Holodukes aren't really helpful except in DukeMatch. Even then it isn't to hard to tell them from normal Duke
players. For example, they don't cast a shadow. Also, shoot one with any weapon, and if it doesn't say 'Ungh', it's must be a HoloDuke.

Keycards and Locks

You will find locked doors on almost every level. To open them, you need a access card. Unlike in Doom, you put the card in the lock,

and you don't get it back. When you get the keycard, press space at the lock, and Duke will somehow manage to figure out
which key to use.
